The Town of Penetanguishene is a picturesque community located on the southerly tip of beautfiul Georgian Bay. Penetanguishene is a historic community first recognized in 1793 by John Graves Simcoe with the establishment of a naval base. Incorporated on February 22, 1882, this thriving billingual community has grown to approximately 9,000 residents.

The Town offers numerous amenities as well as an array of recreational activities and tourist attractions such as:

 

  • 70 hectares of waterfront and inland parks including 3+ kms of linked pathways with picnic areas, benches with free parking, playgrounds, baseball fields and tennis courts, splash pad, historic displays and statues, amphitheatre. 
  • Town Dock - full service marina and launch ramp for transient and seasonal boaters
  • Penetanguishene Centennial Museum - a converted turn-of-the-century General Store
  • Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre - Sports Hall of Fame, hockey, figure skating, public skating, ball hockey, fitness classes, summer day camp, dancing and banquet facilities. 
  • Curling Club - Home of the World Champions and year-round special events. 
  • Oakridge Community Centre - Indoor swimming pool offering public swimming, lessons and aquafitness
  • Discovery Harbour - a recreated naval and military base with Tall Ships.
  • King's Wharf Theatre - home of the Drayton Festival Theatre.
