Happy 1st Day of Summer!

Why Is It Called a “Solstice?"
During a year, the subsolar point—the spot on the Earth's surface directly beneath the Sun—slowly moves along a north-south axis. Having reached its southernmost point at the December solstice, it stops and starts moving northward until it crosses the equator on the day of the March equinox. At the June solstice, which marks the northernmost point of its journey, it stops again to start its journey back toward the south.

This is how the solstices got their name: the term comes from the Latin words sol and sistere, meaning “Sun" and “to stand still".

Smith's Trailer Park & Camp in Midland has plenty to do nearby, year round!

The Wendat trail around Kettles lake is pleasant, and while much of it is in the woods with no view of the lake, there are a number of places to stop and visit the lakeshore with great views.
Check out this 9.50 km, loop trail near Midland, Ontario. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 55 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking, snowshoeing, and trail running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
if you're lucky, you could be a part of someone's special moment like this!
