About RenewMidland.com
Renew Midland is a civic initiative that brings life to empty downtown storefronts. It does this by providing a safe legal framework for landlords who are willing to allow qualified artisans to occupy their storefronts for short periods of time. Renew Midland ensures that landlords continue to have all the safeguards and flexibility to rent their premises while providing the opportunity for selected retail entrepreneurs to experience retail business. The Midland downtown benefits by having otherwise empty shops occupied, bringing new visitors and shoppers to King Street.Who is Renew Midland?

How does Renew Midland Work?
Renew Midland links landlords to artisans (custodians) through a License Agreement. The agreement has safeguards to ensure that the landlord retains reasonable access to his/her premises and has vacant possession whenever needed. Further Renew Midland carries insurance to protect the landlord’s premises.Renew Midland meets with the landlord to discuss what type of artisan would be most suitable. Renew Midland then screens and qualifies the artisans. The artisan commits to the program’s requirements by signing a Participation Agreement with Renew Midland. When a suitable match is found a meeting is arranged with the landlord and a short term Licence Agreement is signed. Renew Midland then manages the artisan to ensure he/she is abiding with the Agreements.
When the landlord wants the premises vacant, the Licence Agreement is terminated and the premises returned in good condition.
