About Us

Oja's Handcrafted Furniture is named after its curator, Steve Oja. Steve has always had a keen interest in woodworking. After earning a university degree and working as a salesman, he returned to his lifelong interest by working in a wood shop and learning the trade. For a few years, he was a partner in a successful wholesale furniture operation. This experience prompted him to go out on his own: Welcome to Oja's Handcrafted Furniture! Their well-equipped shop is located in rural Penetanguishene, Ontario. All work is made to order so there is no fancy, expensive showroom. At Oja's, every piece of furniture is carefully and skillfully handcrafted. Each piece evolves in its own time... not rushed and not hurried. A great deal of effort is put into ensuring consistent quality, and it is apparent they love what they do and are proud of their work. Variety and flexibility are synonymous with Oja's Handcrafted Furniture. Looking for the country appeal? Pine is the preferred type of wood. Hardwoods are also used. Oak, maple, cherry, birch, or any exotic wood of your choice can make a piece unique. It depends on YOUR taste and budget. Steve makes regular trips from Penetang to Toronto, and readily meets with customers at all points in between.
