Mac Greaves is the Associate Dean for Apprenticeship at Georgian College and manages the Midland and Muskoka campuses. Mac also chairs the provincial Heads of Apprenticeship Training committee that oversees in-school delivery of apprenticeship in Ontario.
In 1991, Mac joined Georgian College after six years overseas in Japan and Thailand. He helped create the Georgian College International Centre (now Segal International Centre), which started out in 1995 with fewer than 10 International students. The college is now home to more than 4,000 International students from over 50 countries.
Mac lives in Barrie and Orillia, but was born in Midland and has strong connections to the community. His parents moved to the area in the early 60s as part of a team that started Daysco Industries (now Schott Gemtron).
In the past few years, the Georgian College Midland Campus has experienced significant growth, adding new classrooms and shop space for student learning. The Midland Campus is home to five full-time college programs in the trades, as well as apprenticeship programs and a very strong Academic Upgrading program. In all, the Midland Campus will have over 1,000 students pass through its doors this academic year, plus hundreds of corporate clients that attend the campus for continuing education courses.
