Music Director Hilary Braime has worked as a professional muscian and educator in the UK for over 35years.She was trained as a bass player ans teacher at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music in London UK.
She has played Bass professionally with the East of England Orchestra, D’Oyley Carte. and many Operatic Companies in the Midlands.
She has also been a member of Serenata ,a professional string quintet for over 30 years.
Hilary has worked as a bass teacher for Leicestershire Arts,and has met Dr Suzuki as part of a pioneering team of bass teachers. She introduced the Mini- Bass program into Leicestershire in the 1980’s.
Latterly. Hilary attained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and worked as a primary school teacher in Leicestershire .
Since moving to Canada in 2014, Hilary has been Musical Director of the Orillia Youth Symphony Orchestra and currently runs a string program in the Orillia Schools.She also enjoys playing double bass with the Huronia Symphony Orchestra in Barrie.
Her words: ‘I feel that the best thing about music not only strengthens the character and intellect, but gives freedom to have fun and create- its a wonderful way to make friends!’
Hilary’s main goal for the area is to create a sustainable future for the Arts in our community and provide high quality teaching and learning for her students.She is also an advocate and member of ‘Music Makes Us’.
