About Us
MISSION
Hospice Huronia enhances the quality of life for individuals and their families facing life-threatening illness or bereavement.
With our recently opened residential hospice, Tomkins House, staff and volunteers provide comfort, care and compassion to our residents and their families in a 5 bedroom home-like setting with 24/7 medical care. Trained volunteers also provide physical, emotional and social support at home, in hospital or nursing home for those facing a life-threatening illness.
Bereavement support is available one-on-one or in group sessions.
Our services are FREE thanks to ongoing donations from our community and partial support through our local LHIN.
PHILOSOPHY
It is about living. Hospice Huronia believes that there is much that can be done to help individuals and their families face life-threatening illness and/or bereavement with dignity and quality in their lives. Companionship, spiritual and emotional connectedness offer both the giver and receiver a special gift. Individuals should have good access to pain and symptom control and a choice in how they receive care. Each person is respected within an atmosphere of confidentiality.
