"Old Pig Iron" was the name they gave to Bert Corbeau and he was one of the generation of tough defencemen. He was one of those fellows who played just as well on foreign ice as they played at home. He went into the opposition's rink to "knock-them-down" during a time when the customers were heaving bottles and older rubbers, screaming for his neck.

A tremendous man, he was the kind of fellow whose competitive spirit was an inspiration to the younger players on the club. The ending of his life was tragic. He was a well-respected man who never forgot his roots.
